The Dystopian Novel Heir to the Throne of Classics such as Brave New World, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451...

Song lyrics included in story line!

After World War II, Canada, America, and Mexico organized under one government - Northwest Continent (NWC). As the superpower of the world, NWC upheld a crucial role in the Order of Continents, a global peacekeeping organization, which set the NWC currency, the NWC Note as the reserve currency of the world.

Eventually, the power of NWC's military and capitalist economy revealed corruption and greed after decades of consolidation in every industry aided by global war racketeering for business interests. Powerful monopolies, oligopolies, and global corporations spawned out of NWC by the 21st century. Nowadays, the vast majority, if not all of the highest courts and government officials of NWC are bribed by the lobby groups of powerful banks and corporations. This is evident through the surplus of laws passed which benefit the banks and corporations, and the military which serves their global interests, while the NWC citizens are brainwashed to be used for stimulating the economy, used for wars overseas, and are kept in line by the most technologically advanced government on the planet.

The majority of Northwest Continentals remain oblivious to the corruption and crimes against humanity despite the direct effects on their lives in the forms of falling standards of living, growing economic inequality, constant war, and escalating social issues like racism, drug abuse, gang violence, crime, and mental illnesses. Of those who are aware of the brainwashing, war, and population control, they are too afraid to speak out for it is futile to do so, because most NWC citizens still remain oblivious or become aggressive when they are told the truth... and those who speak out are often silenced - permanently. Only the rest of the world seems to notice the NWC citizens are brainwashed into consumerism, war, obedience, and complacency by a garbage education system, an addiction filled social scene, the media, and other brainwashing methods; unfortunately, the NWC citizens are the ones who must awaken in order for the world to not self-destruct.

Aster Ios is only 18, but he has just figured all of this out with a little help from his economics and history teachers and some research on the computer. Aster is incapable of going along with what everyone else seems to either not notice or not care about. He knows the only way of bringing upon change is creating awareness and starting a mass movement. But how can a high school student convince the people he cares about, let alone hundreds of millions of people they are brainwashed into supporting a fascist government which is threatening to end the world - without coming off crazy? Aster uses one of the ways used to brainwash the citizens in the first place - the media.

As a senior soon to graduate, after years of a lack of focus in school, marijuana smoking, drinking, partying, and a legendary lysergic acid (LSD) trip with his friends, Aster becomes a talented poet and songwriter; and after a group brawl with the local, drug-trafficking gang, the gang's leader Bamien, who is a gifted musician and producer, starts making music with Aster. Their music, the lyrics of which are included in the story, is instantly popular in their hometown, and their first album becomes so influential they bring upon an intense, climactic moment greater than any other in history - attracting enemies from the most powerful institutions on the planet.

If you want to read a book to gain adequate knowledge about a vast amount of uncomfortable truths about the world we live in while also being engrossed in a riveting story, look no further. Justin Mohn as a first time author lays it all out on the table here. The sense of urgency in his writing style suggest that this book is more than just a little pet project for him... it was a brewing project of a lifetime. I felt so much connection with the main character Aster, being a young man with questions who does not know how to ask them without being called crazy or labeled a lunatic, and the story brought me through so many emotions and much analysis on myself. Overall, this book comes together as a modern day Orwell and/or Huxley dystopian classic, with an engaging story and a message of hope that both of the pre-mentioned authored lacked.

Justing Mohn takes the reader on a story of a young man named Aster, who is full of humor, passion, and awareness, but is held back by his peers as he is labeled as a "class clown" for his wild ideas and anti-authority attitude. The character represents many young people in America today, who are fed up with the financial and moral injustices of a corrupt establishment but have no idea how to voice their opinions. In today's America, those who voice their opinions loudly enough against the system typically end up in prison, mental hospitals, assassinated, or just ridiculed enough to have no credibility.

This is a book that, from this reader's standpoint, was intended to spread knowledge. It is a good story, and an invigorating one, but the biggest point of the story is for the reader to absorb the vast amount of research the author has done and wants desperately to spread to a wasting human race. Justin hits the nail on the head with compelling research on topics such as financial injustice from central banking systems, systematic brainwashing on a mass scale, and disturbing aspects of human nature such as group think and mental deterioration.

This book is a compelling read. As someone who has read 1984, Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451, this book is up in the ranks with these politically charged masterpieces of the past. But Justin includes one aspect in his story that the authors of the post WW2 era lacked.. hope and faith. The message of this book is incredibly inspiring, although it will be disturbing to most. It is a book that will be absorbed totally by those select readers that want to learn, grow, and help change the world into a place for our children to one day live. For others too far gone in their own illusions of freedom and greed and luxury, this book will remain closed on the dressing room table. The truth and knowledge spread in this book is profound and offers the reader a challenge to take in the information and form their own opinions about it. No pun intended, it would not be all that surprising if "They burn this book" one day down the road.

One critique is that some of the characters were a bit underdeveloped. Their character was nothing more in the book than a few quotes and then their presence was gone in the story, making the character list a bit cluttered. However, in context with the intensity of the research spewed into the story, it seems the knowledge was more important to the author than the development of every single character.

This reader read this book and quite literally had to re-evaluate his life afterword. Long walks were needed and silent time was necessary. The
book was that profound, and the message hit home so accurately. I'd highly suggest this to anyone who wants to learn more about the world they live in, why and how it is corrupt, and what we can do to change it, and maybe bring it down and establish a new order where we can do things like, O I don't know, go to space?
